Bringing Back a Chilean plated van to Canada

Hi there!

I'm pretty new to this forum so I'm not sure if I'm posting in the good place, but anyways!
We are a french couple (but permanent residents and living in canada) and we are planning for a 6-10 months road trip in south america next year. We are likely to take a flight up to Santiago, Chile and from there drive north up to Cartagena, Colombia.
If everything goes well with the camper (we are looking at buying a brazilian T2 combi, probably from the 90's) we would like to ship it to the US and then drive it back to Canada.
Our big question is: is it legal to import this chilean car to Canada? I reached out to transport Canada and they said it should be ok as the car was older than 15 years old, but on the flip side, I read on different troubles that I could get in trouble with chilean authorities. Is that right, or is there nothing to be afraid of?
Do you think only the ownership paper (in our name) would be enough to import to Canada or would we need other paperwork from Chile? In the meantime, we are not reselling the car out of Chile, just bringing pback to Canada...

+ We have another question for canadian folks :)
We will give notice of our apartment before living, so we won't have any fixed address the day we'll come back to Canada: would this be an issue to 'import' back the car (as I guess as soon as you enter the canadian territory you will have to look for an insurance + address in order to get the car with canadian plates...).

We'we already been road tripping - but never with a car, so it looks like we need way more preparation than when just backpacking!

Thanks for your answers!
