Nadia and Víctor

We're a spanish couple traveling with an astronomy, art and education project: La Furgoneta Cósmica (The Cosmic Van). We plan to do astronomical observations and art workshops in rural schools from Mexico to Argentina. We are also climbers, so we plan to do short stops in every interesting rock face we found.

Hometown:
Barcelona
When did you start your travels?:
10/25/2017
Reason for taking this trip:
We want to know Latin America better, we love what we do and sharing our experiences.
Why did you decide to drive?:
We have to carry a 50kg telescope... buses and trains were not an option.
Are you also taking along pets?:
No
Are you also taking along children?:
No
What type of car are you driving?:
A 2006 Sprinter Van
Did you make any modifications to your car for this trip?:
We built up a table-bed with plenty of space to hide the telescope. We hire people to install a second battery, lights, a kitchen... now it's a small comfortable home.
How did you save up or finance your trip?:
We save up for a couple of years working in Barcelona and we plan to get some funding from Spanish institutions once we have some experience on the field. We are offering, also, astronomical observations for money in the cities we visit.
How long do you plan on traveling?:
6, 9 months? A lifetime?
Where do you plan on driving? :
Mexico City - Monterrey - Mexico City - Chiapas - Guatemala - Honduras - Nicaragua - Costa Rica - Panama - Colombia - Ecuador - Perú - Bolivia - Chile - Argentina
What languages do you speak? Will you learn more on your trip?:
Spanish, English and Catalan. I don't think we'll have the chance to learn any other language.
Do you have a favorite place that you've visited?:
So far, Peña Bernal
Do you have any advice for others who may be considering driving the Americas?:
We are rookies here, we prefer taking advices than giving them...
