We're a spanish couple traveling with an astronomy, art and education project: La Furgoneta Cósmica (The Cosmic Van). We plan to do astronomical observations and art workshops in rural schools from Mexico to Argentina. We are also climbers, so we plan to do short stops in every interesting rock face we found. 

Do you have any advice for others who may be considering driving the Americas?: 
We are rookies here, we prefer taking advices than giving them...

Do you have any advice for others who may be considering driving the Americas?: 
2 wallets - 1 with very little money the other hidden on your person - a smile and all the time in the world with a total ignorance of Spanish when faced with a request for a "multa".

We are Jack and Ruby, from China.

We bought this SUV in San Francisco (California, US) in June, 2016, to drive around the whole America (from North America to South America).

This car is very precious to us, it keeps very good condition during 18 months in America we spent with it. We checked it every month and never found any problem with it. 

Do you have any advice for others who may be considering driving the Americas?: 
Prepare 2 credit cards, 1 VISA and 1 Mastercard, don't leave important things and your documents on your car, stay in hostels with free parking lots.

Our tip has yet to begin. We are prepairing and working on getting financially ready.

We started our trip from Seatlle in June 2017, we are Matt Clo and Wilbur (our Lancruiser), we are slowly going south. Enjoying this awesome life and eveything we get to discover!!

Just go for it!!

To drive from the top of Alaska to the bottom of Argentina in my Australian 1981 Toyota Fj45 Landcruiser Troopie

Do you have any advice for others who may be considering driving the Americas?: 
Do lots of reading into boarder crossings and what to expect. Talk to people who have done it before as they have so many good gems of advice that you will never find on line.

A 2014 Toyota Tacoma with a camper shell over the bed.
Summarize your trip in a couple of sentences: 

Driving the complete Pan American Highway in our Toyota Tacoma for a year and half - north from San Diego to Alaska's Prudoe Bay, then South to Ushuaia, Argentina.

Do you have any advice for others who may be considering driving the Americas?: 
Before we left we read a lot of blogs and books of people doing this trip. In fact, it discouraged us from doing it, because it all seemed so overwhelming. In the end we decided to take it week by week, and not plan ahead farther than that. It's made things more manageable and us more adaptable.

1999 GMC Safari AWD

Heading south from Washington state in Nov 2017 until sometime around June - September 2018. We both finished up military service and want to take advantage of our new found freedom. 

Do you have any advice for others who may be considering driving the Americas?: 
We left with many things not finished on the lists of things to do - that's ok. Make sure you schedule time to relax and take time off from the trip. It's easy to keep traveling and forget that sight seeing is hard work!

My wife in yr 2000 went to Tiawanaku to connect to the Indians at the top of the Benni River with the advise of Gary Monroe. We put together $30,000 plus in tents, gas motors, and tons of stuff for these Indians north of Tiawanaku.She along with her Doctor friend they over heard Gary say that he was going to steal the stuff and kill them both. I has warned them not to trust them. But unfortunatly he stole all the stuff and went down the river.

Do you have any advice for others who may be considering driving the Americas?: 
I don't know ...I not driving but soon will get my sailboat (lost other) and will be going all around the world...I had a marina and 3 boats including a Army T boat 1945 , I restored it and was ready to go to the islands but my partner messed up the partnership and let the boat rot. Its a long story ...
