Hi friends, so now our plan its start looking for vans to buy in California to start the trip from there heading south. Witch is the good sites or forums to look for vans there?
Thanks a lot
I would suggest buying a vehicle in a state that doesn't have annual safety or smog checks and that allows renewal of registration online (or has permanent or multi-year tags) and also allows transfer to the next owner by mail or internet.
Hey thanks for the information! It's really useful!
Also we are looking for not to big engine but it's little hard and we don't know if diesel or gasoline...
and models that after will be easy to fix in case need.
One consideration might be that diesel quality in parts of Mexico, central America and the northern half of S America is not good enough for western engines produced since about 2007.
Along the Andes and on the high plains of Bolivia you are at 3000 to 5000 METRES (not feet) and in winter way below freezing point so again, diesel requires some attention to detail. Sometimes you are lucky to get any diesel let alone winter formulations with antigel agents.
Thanks for your answer, the thing is that some vans can add after a tank of normal Gas that in Brasil or Argentina can run with gasoline and gas and gas it's really more cheap. Because most of the engines of Americans. Vans are very very big and take lot of gasoline, 5,7 v8 etc....
do you know where in USA we can start looking for like web site or forum in ca maybe?
thanks a lot!
Diesel in Ecuador is US$ 1.03 per GALLON. Most other places - even Mexico - you will pay more than back in the usa. Venuzeala used to be 10 cents a gollon but recently went up by 6000% and anyway you cant enter it from the north since end of September. Americans are living in a fools paradise as far as price of fuel goes which is why they have no incentive to make vehicles or engines smaller. (not that I can talk. F350 has a 7.3Litre engine and my big bus back home uses 45 litres per 100km which is for the metrically-challenged is 5.22 miles per US gallon.
Mitsubishi delicia 4x4 van 2.8 diésel from punta arenas Chile?
its real y cheap, soñé info about this van?
thanks a los
have a grey day :)
Besides ebay and the standard craigslist, consider onecraigs.com to search craigslist satate-wide or nation-wide. Sometimes results are deadlinks (expired) but it does give you a better idea and makes it easier to search for specific cars/items.
By the way, are you from the US or abroad? Do you know anything about buying a car in the US as a foreigner? Maybe you can help me: http://drivetheamericas.com/forums/buying-car-us-foreigner
