1990 VW Kombi for sale November/December 2016 in Santiago, Chile

Hi Kombi Lovers,

After travelling through Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador and driving a total of 18.000 km (at this stage we have done 14.000 km). Our Kombi adventure will end in early December 2016 in Santiago, Chile. We discovered travelling with a Volkswagen Kombi is a great experience and the best way to discover South America. Using the application Ioverlander linked to maps.me, we parked in the most amazing places and this all for free! Besides, by having a car (especially a Volkswagen Kombi) you meet a lot of different people on the road, people from every country want to have a talk with you, want to help you whenever they can.

The engine runs really well and the parts and labour in South America are generally really cheap.

It's a Volkswagen Kombi from 1990 (Brazilian production) with the original engine 1600 cc. The car has Chilean plates. The car is especially constructed for people who want to travel and sleep inside their car, to avoid the high cost of accommodation. The car has a bed inside for two people, which can be folded into a couch (see photos). The Kombi has many closets and storage for clothes, books, food etc.

This includes:

Battery
Charger on the radio for phone or tablet
2x10 L water jerry's
25 L fuel jerry
Spare tire
2 new Michelin tires on the rear
Tire changing equipment
Hazard triangles
Fire extinguisher
2 burner stove with 5 kg. gas bottle
Extra 1 burner stove for outside

Some tools and spare parts

To be warn that you need a Chilean sponsor to apply for your RUT number (tax number). This can be achieved easily at the notaria and SII which are located everywhere in Santiago. It took us a week to finalise the paperwork for the car in Santiago. We didn’t know anyone beforehand, but any Chilean resident can represent you. Chilean people are very friendly and willing to help you our sponsor is now like our Chilean family.
See the following link for details. It’s pretty easy.
