Tear Drop Trailer - Would you?

We regularly travel the US with with an off road tear drop behind our jeep (see pic) and would like to take this show on the road through Central and South Americas.  The question is - would you?  It seems like a risk vs reward thing - we'd have a great camp but does the attention it will attract, out weigh the benefits when hotels are cheap anyway?  I'm not too worried about the extra time at borders, we will have no schedule, and I know it will cost more at the Darien Gap.  Do you think it introduces any safety or logistical concerns that outweigh the benefits?

thanks!

Do it!

Yes, yes, yes! Do it! You must definately take this trailer with you. I've been traveling for three months at this point, tent camping all the way. You will not regret it. It looks like it is well equipped to handle the roads. Just make sure it can be securely locked, just like your car.

There are so many amazing, out of the way places that you'll want to stay in. There won't be a hotel there. You can free camp in comfort. Campgrounds are more affordable than hotels, though you'll want to stay in the occasional hotel, of course. My fiancee and I have been traveling for three months now. We tent camp, primarily. We've stayed in plenty of campgrounds, but we've also free camped on beautiful beaches. There is nothing like falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves and waking up to a gorgeous sunrise, doing yoga on the beach and making your coffee while you watch the waves, all the while enjoying complete solitude. If you decide not to take it, can we have it??? Seriously.

Updates?

Dave/Jeanne, did you end up taking a tear drop down with you?  I'm considering the same and would love to hear your feedback.

Thanks!
