Driving from Naples, Florida through Central America, all the way to Panama beginning in late July. I plan on spending about 6 months in total traveling through the region. I couldn't find anyone able or willing to go along with me, so I'm heading out on my own.

When did you start your travels?:
Reason for taking this trip:
Adventure and scuba diving.
Why did you decide to drive?:
I spent a couple of months in Belize earlier this year and loved it, except for the fact that I didn't have the freedom that comes with having my own transportation. Now that I'm heading out to see the entire region, the only plausible way to do so seems to be for me to drive.
Are you also taking along pets?:
Are you also taking along children?:
What type of car are you driving?:
2017 Subaru Forester
Did you make any modifications to your car for this trip?:
Just getting the windows tinted and a full size spare tire.
How long do you plan on traveling?:
Six months
Where do you plan on driving? :
From Florida, through the US to Mexico and every country south of there, all the way to Panama.
What languages do you speak? Will you learn more on your trip?:
English and some Spanish. I've been using the Pimsleur Spanish program every day for the past 3 1/2 months and will continue to do so throughout my trip.
Do you have a favorite place that you've visited?:
Placencia, Belize
Do you have any advice for others who may be considering driving the Americas?:
Do it. Don't be afraid and don't make your plans contingent upon the willingness of others to participate or facilitate your travel.
